Lincoln - 5 year old questions

Today is Lincoln's 5th birthday! Can't believe how fast this year went by! I also can't believe that it's been a year since I last logged onto my blog! I really want to get back and do some updates on the kids and life in general.
So here is Lincoln's yearly questioner that I started last year. Might need to change it up next year or ask some more questions. These are so fun!

Me: I'm going to ask you some questions, Lincoln.
Lincoln: Ok, what's the question?

1. What is your favorite color? All of them...actually just one, Blue. My favorite color is blue

2. What is your favorite toy? A new Legos Star Wars set, and Indiana Jones Lego set. (We don't have Indiana Jones...yet...)

3. What is your favorite fruit? Strawberries

4. What is your favorite tv show? You know, it's Avengers

5. What is your favorite thing to eat for lunch? Uh, a bagel. A pizza bagel

6. What is your favorite outfit? Bumble Bee, he's cool. He turns into a weird car

7. What is your favorite game? Avengers

8. What is your favorite snack? Pizza

9. What is your favorite animal? A giraffe. he has a long neck. But I'm talking about a baby giraffe.

10. What is your favorite song? The B.I.B.L.E.

11. What is your favorite book? Super Heroes

12. Who is your best friend? Sean

13. What is your favorite cereal? I like the crunchy square things that have sugar on them. what are they called? (cinnamon toast crunch)

14. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Play Star Wars with a light saber

15. What is your favorite drink? Orange Juice

16. What is your favorite holiday? A holiday when it snows. snow is coming up! Everyone is waiting for it!

17. What do you like to take to bed with you at night? My son. (his teddy bear. I just found out the other day that it is his son....)

18. What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast? Didn't we already do breakfast? um...I like pizza from Pizza Hut. (just to clarify, I don't allow this)

19. What do you want for dinner on your birthday? I would like a cake and with some birthday pupcakes. (cupcakes. Still struggles to say that word. He used to say puc-cakes, and I know my mom gets a kick out of that as I used to say things backwards when I was his age.)

20. What do you want to be when you grow up? A builder. I wanna build a robot and be a bad guy. No just kidding. That was just a joke.

I guess some things don't change! Lincoln likes to keep things pretty regular from day to day!
Being goofy after trick-or-treating. We were doing "nose picking shots!"

update on kiddos and life

I've missed blogging...These kiddos have kept me busy...

Beckham at 2 weeks

Beckham with big brother at 14 weeks

It's hard to believe that it's been almost 4 months since Beckham was born. What's even harder to believe is that Lincoln will be 4 in about a month! CRAZY!!! He is growing into such a big boy. A little man really. Some of the things he comes up with cracks me up and I wonder to my self, "what in the world? where did he come up with that?!" I really should write them down. (cuz now I can't come up with any...)

My favorite thing about Lincoln right now is his imagination. From pretending to be Iron Man, playing Blue's Clues (he always makes me Blue...), to building robots. I decided that for his birthday, we will be getting him some big boy Legos! He's doing the best he can with what he's got now, which isn't a whole lot!

I've been trying to do preschool with him. But with baby and house work and lack of motivation....yea...I'm terrible at it...anyways...This is a new week...

Beckham is growing WAY TO FAST!!! I'm thinking he's my last baby and I don't want to let go, miss anything, or make him grow too fast! He's a very smiley baby and LOVES his daddy! He enjoys watching big brother and has just found a new growl/voice thing...it's so cute!

Right now Lincoln are waiting excitedly for Uncle Ken and Aunt RuthAnn to get in. They are moving to Greenville from Colorado and should be here soon! RuthAnn will be traveling with the quartet (that Joe travels with,) playing the piano. We are excited for this opportunity for them and happy to have family in town! With that happening, Joe and I have been looking for a house to buy thinking this might mean we will be here longer.

so...kids, house hunting, in-laws moving in town, some preschooling, church, and family time...I'll TRY to fit blogging in there. What should I blog about?

Preschool with Lincoln - Noah's Ark!

I've been kind of behind with Lincoln's preschool. We're only on week five of the curriculum, and we skipped review week... Sad, I know. But the weather's been beautiful, and with dr. appointments, playdates and stuff....we've been slowing taking out time. Hopefully this week will run smoother, but I'm not counting on it. It's supposed to be in the mid 70's - low 80's this week and I plan on using that to our advantage!!!!

Anyways....

Here's how our week is beginning to look like. We are on the story of Noah's Ark. We're looking forward to making rainbows later on this week! (link to the curriculum I use)

The Letter of the week is B. So we made 'b' things and made them blue.

A 'B' butterfly that has blue glitter! Glitter's always fun!

I took these in between break/lunch time and he had a treat of watching Blue's Clues, so he wasn't too interested in showing off his crafts at that moment!!!

He made Blue and got to watch with her!

This week our memory verse is: John 14:15 "If you love me, you will obey what I command."

We also worked on cutting with scissors, and our new number of the week is the number 3. I hope to post more later on in the week. Monday's are always hard to jump into. At least he slept in this morning instead of waking up before the sun like last week! (Thank you daylight savings time change!!!)

Recent updates on Lincoln's life: It seems every week there's something new that he's doing that makes me just stare at him and wonder where my baby boy went?! Like just the other day, I swear, he aged 4 whole years in front of me. He no longer had the baby boy image...He was a BOY.

Here's how it went down: He decided to use the big potty. (which happens on occasion, not that unusual.) But this time he was on a mission... He pulled his step stool UP to the BIG toilet and PEED STANDING UP!!!....Sorry...but maybe you moms out there with boys will understand what I'm going through right now...But this is BIG. I don't know what it is, but it's a big deal for me!!! *ok, I'll stop now....sorry*

Lincoln will come up with these hilarious phrases that I wish I had them recorded when he says them! I wanna try to record some of his story telling, but usually he just stops the story and ends up more interested in my camera....So...anyways. The other day he went potty in his pants. So while we were in the bathroom, he was kneeling on the floor for some reason, I was telling him how he wasn't supposed to be going potty in his pants and to get up and get into the bathtub. He then puts his hands together in a prayer like manner and says, "Yes, Master." I didn't laugh or do anything. All I said was, "no...I'm your mom, not your master." Not till after his bath when I told daddy the story, then did I start laughing about it!

Another funny thing, well, funny to me....(and cute) is hearing him hum. Only just recently has he started humming. His favorite song to hum is "I've got the Joy, Joy, Joy, Joy, down in my heart" and it makes my heart full of Joy to hear him! :)

Our house has accumulated tons of papers with drawings of stick men. I don't want to get rid of them because this is very new of him to do.

He loves craft time, always asks if we're going to be doing school, doesn't like nap time anymore, is ALWAYS jumping on my bed, a recent breakfast skipper like me, wanting to do EVERYTHING by himself, a mommy's boy, and a helper. I love this little guy! :)

Question for moms with toddlers....

ok....mommies with toddlers, (or older experienced mommies) how do you get your morning shower in your day? Have you switched to night showers, do you try to wake up before the lil one is up, or do you wait till nap time? What is it? I'd like to know.
Here's what I'm dealing with. I don't like night showers. Sleep is too precious to me. And that brings the other dilemma. I'm not a morning person. I hate mornings. I find that I'm a better person during the day if I sleep till the kid is up. I'm not gonna try to exert all that morning energy for a shower unless it's REALLY important. Like church or something....
So. I guess I'm a mid-morning shower person. Around 9 or 10 am is a good time. I feel that I can't really start my day till I shower and freshen up. But what to do with the toddler that's running around with that permanent marker? He's already watched is limit on tv cuz you decided that an hour in bed checking Facebook and email on your phone was a good excuse for "sleeping in." By the time I'm ready to drag myself out of bed, get breakfast and coffee, he's ready for something exciting to happen. So that's when mommy becomes the lifeless jungle gym, trying not to spill the precious coffee. 10:30am rolls around and it's getting late. I know I HAVE to get a shower soon cuz anytime I put it off, someone stops by unexpectedly and I look horrendous. HATE it when that happens. And it's been happening a lot lately.
I remember that his favorite show is on at 10:30. So I decide that another half hour of tv can't hurt much. But because of the wind we are having today, the black outs on the tv aren't keeping my son entertained. So, my shower was interrupted multiple times by a 2 yr. old screaming "mommy, where are you," and pulling back the shower curtain handing me his bath toys. *sigh* another five minute peaceful shower gone....
and what's happening now while I blog? tv is on.....Yes, my tv has become the babysitter. I know i know. "get rid of it, unplug it, turn it off, put it in another room, don't ever turn it on at the beginning of the day..." I've heard it, think it, and that tv stares at me every morning with it's tempting ways.
so I guess that brings up another question. what do you do with the tv?
